Best time to visit the Sundarbans, and the June to August closure
The Sundarbans is open to tourists from September to May and closed from June to August. Which months are best, month by month.
Explore the mangrove waterways over three cruise days, with guided forest stops and two nights aboard the vessel. Spend three vessel days in the mangrove waterways with landings selected by the approved route, tides and forest instructions. The journey begins at the arranged Khulna or Mongla embarkation point; Dhaka access is planned separately. Cabin accommodation, meals, life jackets, the authorised guide and required forest arrangements form the cruise experience.
Starting fromBDT 9,000Per person

A simple route plan for this package, with the starting point, transfers, stay and key experiences kept together for each day.
Day 1
Reach the Khulna or Mongla embarkation point for the vessel’s reporting time. Board the cruise vessel, attend the safety briefing and settle into life on the river. Visit Harbaria for a first look at the mangrove landscape and forest paths. Spend the night in your vessel cabin.
Day 2
Land in the Katka area and explore its tidal forest setting. Walk with the authorised guide through the mangrove landscape. Add a Kochikhali creek excursion to explore a narrower waterway. Return to the vessel after the day’s forest and creek visits.
Day 3
Travel back along the approved river route. Add a Karamjal stop on the return leg of the river journey. Disembark at the arranged port and continue toward Dhaka with a realistic road buffer.
Optional choices: A cabin upgrade or a small-boat creek excursion, each at extra cost.
Cooler months bring comfortable forest walks and long hours among tidal rivers and mangrove creeks.
Closed walking shoes with grip, long light clothing, sun and rain protection, insect protection suitable for you, a torch, medicines, refillable bottle and ID. Pack lightly for cabin storage.
Bangladeshi taka BDT. Keep a separate budget for personal spending and paid extras.
Forest entry requires Forest Department permission, an authorised guide and the applicable security arrangements. Landings and creek trips follow the permitted vessel route, tides and storm instructions. There are no night forest walks or unapproved landings. Gangways, small boats and muddy forest paths require suitable mobility and life jackets. Wildlife sightings vary naturally, and animals are never baited or disturbed.
