Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in one trip
How to route Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in one holiday from Dhaka, how many nights to give each city and how to travel between them.

Three countries in one holiday sounds like a lot, but this is one of the easiest multi-country trips you can take from Dhaka. The cities are close together, the flights between them are short, and each one feels different enough that you never feel you are repeating yourself. Bangkok is busy and full of flavour, Kuala Lumpur is relaxed and green, and Singapore is tidy, efficient and made for families. The trick is in the routing and the pacing.
Pick a direction and fly open-jaw
The best decision you can make is to avoid backtracking. Instead of a return ticket to one city, book an open-jaw ticket: fly from Dhaka into Bangkok and home from Singapore, or the other way round. Both cities have regular flights to and from Dhaka, and so does Kuala Lumpur, which sits neatly in the middle.
Most travellers prefer to start in Bangkok and finish in Singapore. Bangkok is the most hectic of the three, so you see it while you still have energy, and Singapore makes an easy, comfortable finish. If you are travelling with young children or older parents, starting in the calmest city can help everyone settle in, so the reverse route works well too.
How many nights in each city
For a first trip, nine to eleven nights in total is a comfortable range. Here is a split that suits most people:
- Bangkok: 3–4 nights. The Grand Palace and Wat Pho, a boat on the Chao Phraya, the markets and the malls. Add a night or two if you want a side trip to Pattaya.
- Kuala Lumpur: 3 nights. The Petronas Twin Towers, Batu Caves, Merdeka Square and the food streets. A day trip to Genting Highlands fits in here too.
- Singapore: 3 nights. Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa and the hawker centres, plus Universal Studios if you have children with you.
If you only have a week, two countries usually work better than three. Our Malaysia and Singapore package is a good shorter version, with one easy hop between the two.
Moving between the cities
Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur is best done by air. The flight is short and several airlines fly the route, including budget carriers. There is a rail route through southern Thailand, but it is slow and needs careful planning, so most holidaymakers skip it.
Kuala Lumpur to Singapore gives you a real choice:
- Coach: comfortable express coaches run through the day and cross the border at the Johor causeway. It takes longer than flying, but you travel city centre to city centre and see some of the Malaysian countryside on the way.
- Flight: quick in the air, but once you add the trip to the airport and check-in time, the time saved is smaller than it looks.
On a coach you get off at the border with your bags and go through immigration on both sides, so keep your passport, visa copies and hotel details in your hand luggage. Weekends and public holidays can bring long queues at the causeway, so travel midweek if you can.
Check what your budget flight includes. Low fares within Asia often leave out checked baggage, and adding it at the airport usually costs more than adding it when you book.
Three countries means three visas
This is the part people underestimate. Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore each have their own visa rules, and Bangladeshi passport holders usually need a separate visa for each one. A visa for one country does not cover the others.
The documents asked for tend to overlap: a passport with enough validity and blank pages, recent photos, bank statements, proof of your job or business, and your flight and hotel bookings. But each country has its own forms, its own way of applying and its own processing time, and these change from time to time. Softway Travels checks the current rules for all three when you book, and our visa team can prepare the applications together so the dates and details match across every one of them.
Start early. Your flights and hotels need to line up with your visa applications, so fix your route before you apply rather than after.
Small things that make the trip easier
- Carry a little local cash for each country: baht, ringgit and Singapore dollars. Cards are widely accepted in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, less so at Bangkok's street stalls.
- Get a local SIM or eSIM in each country, or one regional plan that covers all three.
- Pack light. You will check in and out of three hotels, so one suitcase each makes every move easier.
- Dress modestly for temples in Bangkok and mosques in Kuala Lumpur, with shoulders and knees covered.
- Leave one free half-day in each city. It is often the part of the trip people remember best.
If you would like all of this handled for you, our Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore package covers the route, hotels and transfers, and Softway Travels can arrange the flights and visas around it. Tell us your dates and who is travelling, and we will plan the rest.
